WIRRAL – Kelda Discovers the Wirral

WIRRAL – Kelda Discovers the Wirral
Artists: Thingumajig Theatre
Locations: Various Wirral locations  (see schedule below)

‘Kelda’ (an old Norse name meaning “spring” or “fountain”) is a giant puppet of Viking lineage. She is an inquisitive child who embodies the spirit of discovery and wonder.

Through 3 puppeteer/performers she is able to interact with both her surroundings and her audience. Each Wirral venue has its own performance specific to its attractions, though the general story is that ‘Kelda’  is a Viking girl who once lived in the Wirral.

She has travelled into the present  and with the aid of her very keen (but slightly geeky) archaelogist guides, is curious to meet and  communicate with the current residents and learn about the treasures of the Wirral of today, from space travel to art galleries to growing vegetables..!  Her  guides know all about her Viking heritage and are able to help children  communicate with her.

I am taking my lovely wife on the trail for valentine’s Day and can’t wait!

  2. Mandy Biagetti says:

I wonder if Kelda would consider joining the residents of Hoylake in a traditional celebration of the Royal Wedding on Friday 29th April 2011. Please contact me for more information,I think Kelda would love to be part of our event in ‘old hoylake’.

  3. Jo Smith says:

If Kelda visits Hoylake on Fri 29th April, or any other time, she may wish to visit a co operative of artists at Seagrass Gallery just 30 seconds from Hoylake train station. There will be a wealth of spring inspired work. Hope to see her there. Jo Smith
