SPORT – The Runner
SPORT – The Runner (EXTENDED to 8 May)
Artist: Faith Bebbington
Location: King-Park, (car park) Kings Dock Street
Liverpool is renowned globally for its football prowess and glorious Grand National. But did you know that Liverpool held an annual Grand Olympic Festival devised by John Hulley and Charles Melly between 1862 to 1867 on which the first modern Olympiad in Athens was based?
This precariously balanced sculptural sequence is a fitting celebration of the awesome achievements of Liverpool’s past and present Olympiads and puts us in fine form for more successes in 2012.
Thanks to King-Park, The King of Parking for just £3 a day in L1.

I am always amazed at how ‘little’ even the natives of Liverpool know about our great city. All of this should be taught in school as part of local history..it should help instill pride into our future generation….congratulations to everyone involved in the project.
